We have never had any problem leaving our rig while we were gone all day. The crime risk while boondocking is really low. The permit is generated on screen and print it out. Watch a short video and answer some really basic questions. If boondocking in California, you can get a free fire permit on line good for all public lands state and federal. There may be campfire restrictions on public lands during fire season. Or point you to a public dump station nearby. Ask really nice at the front desk and they may let you use it. Sometimes Ranger Stations have dump sites for their own use in the back lot. When you move to new spot, dump your waste tanks at the first opportunity. Propane refrigerators get cranky at high altitude. Putting it inside your car or truck makes the interior stinky. Leaving it outside will invite critters to scatter it. When the trash bags fill you have no no good place to store it. This will stretch your fresh water supply. Stop at a good water source and fill it up before heading back to camp. Carry a 5 gal water jug with you while exploring around. When you are out-and-about driving around during the day, stop at a public restroom before heading back to camp. Learn to shower very efficiently, take the Navy shower method to the extreme. Dumping the black on the ground, or even in a hole you dug, is a mortal sin in the boondocking world. Some people dump their gray on the ground. Or break camp and drive to a dump station. You can use a blue tote to partially empty the tanks, then take it with you on your daily excursions in your towing vehicle. Most people find the gray tank fills first, but YMMV. The factory never secures the loose dangly stuff underneath very well.īoondocking means no hookups. There are wires and flexible tubing that can catch on the vegetation. While still in your driveway, crawl underneath the rig with a large fistful of zip ties. Whats also impressive is with my three solar panels, I could leave the coach and after 14 hrs of being away my battery bank is showing between 12.5 and 12.7 on the spyder display. Not bad for (4) 6 volt flooded cell batteries. When I got up in the morning I still had 12.2 showing on my spyder. I would leave running, naturally the fridge, power to all 4 tv's the little red light on, the bedroom ceiling fan set on low, charging two cell phones, two Iphones, one laptop, one Credit card machine, one Veizon Jet Pack, and leaving my CPAC machine hooked up all night. So with my battery bank at full charge, usually a two hour run with my generator, Spyder showing about 12.9 to 13.0 I shut the jenny down. I would shut down and go to bed at 9:00 PM and get up at 7:00 a full 10 hrs. I figured I would hit the sack early because these shows are always exhausting to setup and run. The temps were 85 to 90 degrees in the daytime cooling off to about 65 degrees at night. I decided to test my batteries at night with a full charge and leave the bedroom fan running. I was just BD for 5 days at the last gun show. Hi All? There is always questions about how long will your batteries last when boondocking.
